Food-industry hiring for cybersecurity jobs still buoyant

[ad_1]

The proportion of food manufacturers hiring for cybersecurity-related positions rose in April year-on-year, data suggests.

Some 37.3% of the companies monitored by data and analytics group GlobalData were recruiting for at least one such position last month.

That compares to the 28.6% of food manufacturers that were hiring for cybersecurity-related jobs in April 2021 and is an increase on the 34.4% looking to fill those positions in March this year.

When looking at all openings in the food industry, cybersecurity-linked job postings accounted for 1.6% of newly-posted job advertisements, up from 0.6% in April 2021.

Cybersecurity is one of the topics that GlobalData, Just Food’s parent company, has identified as being a disruptive force facing business in the coming years. Companies that excel and invest in these areas now are thought to be better prepared for the future business landscape and better equipped to survive unforeseen challenges.

Nevertheless, GlobalData says its analysis suggests food manufacturers are hiring for cybersecurity jobs at a rate lower than the average for all companies within the research group’s jobs analytics database. The average among all companies stood at 3.1% in April.

GlobalData’s job analytics database tracks the daily hiring patterns of thousands of companies across the world, drawing in jobs as they’re posted and tagging them with additional layers of data on everything from the seniority of each position to whether a job is linked to wider industry trends.
