We are looking for an Enterprise Business Development Director to join our energized team to support and implement the development of OLG’s enterprise business development growth strategies and priorities.

YOUR ROLE IN THE GAME

Reporting to the VP Enterprise Business Development, the Enterprise Business Development Director is accountable for supporting and implementing the development of OLG’s enterprise business development growth strategies and priorities aligned with OLG’s enterprise strategic objectives and plans.  You will also be responsible for performing the technical strategic investment and partnership diligence, structuring, evaluation and execution that forward these strategies, priorities and plans with the goal of driving new growth opportunities for OLG, securing access to new technologies for OLG and positioning Ontario to become a center of excellence in gaming and entertainment innovation for the financial and economic benefit of OLG and the Province.  You will do this by:

Support

  • Supporting the development and implementation of an enterprise development strategic growth plan that aligns with OLG’s larger enterprise strategic plan, focusing on inorganic growth through third-party partnerships and alliances.
  • Supporting the development of, and implementing, a comprehensive process to identify and evaluate potential investment and partnership opportunities, including a rigorous idea generation and screening process to bring quality ideas to OLG’s executive leadership team and stakeholders, including building business cases for the approval of such opportunities.
  • Supporting and/or leading the evaluation of potential collaboration with, or retention of services from, Ontario incubator and accelerator programs that may enhance OLG’s innovation growth strategies.
  • As assigned by the VP, Business Development, lead or support the development of business cases and proposals in conjunction with Finance partners and respective business leaders; ensuring a comprehensive cost/benefit/ROI analysis supports each business case for growth.

Collaboration

  • Collaborating with OLG Risk & Audit team to identify key risks and mitigations.
  • Collaborating with OLG Finance to understand financial planning activities around department activities and key accounting treatments for investments, partnerships, and acquisitions.
  • Collaborating with Enterprise Strategy and lines of business to explore business development opportunities in a progressive and systematic fashion, drawing on in-house expertise and competitive intelligence.  
  • Partnering with business leaders throughout the development process to ensure the deals make strategic sense, fit with the forward-looking business plans, can be integrated smoothly and fully optimized.
  • Identifying, assessing, and evaluating plans to collaborate with educational institutions in Ontario to forward enterprise business development strategic plans and build and communicate business cases to senior management, CEO, Board and Government as required to execute on alliances and partnerships with these institutions showing the expected benefits to OLG and the Province.

Business Management

  • Performing the technical assessment and execution of potential investments and partnerships that underpin OLG’s enterprise business development strategic plan.
  • Developing, building, and communicating business cases for collaboration with and/or retention of services from Ontario incubator and accelerator programs.
  • Performing research and building key alliances and networks for OLG to stay informed on developing trends in the gaming and entertainment business around the world in order to identify growth opportunities for OLG and report periodically to the VP, Business Development on findings and observations.
  • Developing goals, objectives and KPIs to measure success of department activities and identify key risk factors and mitigations.
  • Creating presentation materials and dashboards to communicate activities or department and recommendations to executive leadership team, the CEO and the Board and Government, as required, to evidence the department’s achievements, goals, objectives, results, forward-looking plans, KPIs and business cases that require senior-level approval.

WHAT YOU NEED TO PLAY

Work experience: 8+ years of experience in Enterprise Strategy, Private Equity, Investment Strategy, corporate investment and acquisition and partnership transactions within a medium-sized to large organization, including an asset/fund manager.   Ability to structure and manage complex cross-enterprise projects with multiple stakeholders. Significant experience in developing and executing on corporate investment and/or M&A transactions. Demonstrated ability to identify, evaluate and structure investments and acquisitions and to build the business cases to obtain approval to execute on such investments and acquisitions.  Preference will be given to experience in the entertainment industry.

Education: University Degree, preferably in Business Administration or Business Commerce (asset) and MBA (asset)

You are someone with: Superior analytics and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor and ready to take calculated risks towards promoting company’s goals and ideals.  Excellent presentation skills, including strong oral and writing capability, ability to clearly communicate compelling messages to senior executives and external business partners.
