Mother-daughter duo opens craft shop
BELLEVILLE — One look at Deb Guard and Jess Catron’s craft shop and there’s no doubt the mother-daughter duo love what they do.
The display tables and walls are covered with one-of-a-kind holiday and seasonal décor.
“It is time consuming and takes a lot of work,” Catron said. “We have to be here and run the store and make things for the store. That’s really where our passion lives. It’s a good sort of work to have. We enjoy it.”
After years of planning, Guard and Catron decided to open Lemon and Lime Craft Co., located at 4553 E. Main St., Belleville.
“We wanted to have a small place to do this, and it all just came together this past year,” Catron added.
Lemon and Lime Craft Co. sells one-of-a-kind wreaths and other home décor. Both said opening the shop was a matter of “pursuing our dreams of owning a small business.”
They carry blankets, pillows, runners, doormats, planters, garland, wreaths, hanging signs, scented candles and candlesticks for everyday decorating.
“We’ve been doing small events over the past seven years,” Catron said. “My mom’s been making wreathes and décor for 30 years now. The last year few years, we’ve gotten serious about opening a small shop. It’s great now we can make things and sell them in our own little shop.”
For the kitchen, Lemon and Lime Craft Co. sells tableware and canister sets, salt and pepper shakers, sponges, dish towels, potholders, mugs, soap and other accessories.
For fall, they have pumpkins, gnomes, football-themed items, blankets and throws and table accents.
“As far as our wreaths go, we make everything,” Catron said. “It’s really one-of-a-kind type décor.”
Shoppers can also view and purchase many of these items on the store’s website. Items can be shipped, or in-store pickup is also available.
Lemon and Lime Craft Co. also has special holiday events planned, including a Winter Wreath Workshop at 6 p.m. Thursday, with limited seating available. Reservations can be booked through their website, lemonandlimecraftco.com. A Christmas open house is also scheduled for 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Guard and Catron were even thoughtful when selecting a name for the business as lemons and limes go together yet have their own individual tastes.
“It comes from us being a mother and daughter,” Catron said. “We’re from the same family, but we have different tastes. You can see it a lot in our wreathes.
“I’m fall, she’s more Halloween,” she added. “But it’s a nice style for everything.”
Lemon and Lime Craft Co. is changing its hours for the holidays. Starting Nov. 8, Lemon and Lime Craft Co. will open at
10 a.m. daily and close at
7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 5 p.m. Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. They are closed on Sundays and Mondays.
The phone number is (717) 946-1576, or you can find them online at
