ELKINS — A local business is expanding the services it offers by launching a Community Supported Kitchen.

Fish Hawk Acres is opening its Community Supported Kitchen in Elkins featuring delivery to the local area beginning on Aug. 18, including prepared foods and meal kits.

The kitchen is part of the company’s expansion of The Coop in Buckhannon that currently includes CSK, Blooms by Juliette and an expanded retail market. Cooking classes, the Event Emporium, and Fish Hawk Travel will be added later in the year to give the Coop six new concepts.

Because Fish Hawk Acres is able to buy produce from several different local vendors in the area, all of its prepared foods and meal kits are guaranteed fresh and locally grown and raised.

Access to Fish Hawk Acres items that were previously only available at the Buckhannon store will now be available to consumers in Elkins beginning on Aug. 18. That includes meal kits that feature a crab cake and risotto dinner, or street tacos, or reuben sandwiches.

All of the meal kits will be constructed in the Fish Hawk Acres kitchen. Fish Hawk will feature only local ingredients from its weekly menu of seasonal produce and meats, prepared foods and meal kits.

CSK orders will be accepted online each Friday and the delivery date will be the following Thursday evening, at the cafe in Buckhannon and at the Green Acres produce stand in Elkins, next to CVS Pharmacy.

“I know we have a lot of fans in Elkins,” Chef Dale Hawkins said. “We decided to show our appreciation by bringing The CSK to Elkins first.”

Fish Hawk Acres plans to expand its meal kit options in the future. It will continue to deliver baked goods, along with grab and go options, to Tip Top in Elkins on Third Street.

More information and ordering options are available at fishhawkmarket.com.

CSK menus are also available at two locations in Buckhannon — The Cafe at 5 West Main Street, and The Coop at 4 East Main Street. They can also be accessed on Fish Hawk’s Facebook page.
