ELIZABETH — In recognition of the prevalence of the opioid epidemic and its impact in the state of West Virginia, Coplin Health Systems and Westbrook Health Services have joined to offer medication-assisted treatment services in the Elizabeth area.

The Westbrook Mobile MAT unit will visit Wirt County Family Care site operated by Coplin to offer suboxone or buprenorphine as an option to treat opioid dependence.

Westbrook’s Mobile MAT program helps manage the short-term and long-term effects of opioid dependence as part of overall treatment, which consists of medication, counseling, attendance at support group meetings and on-going monitoring to build a lifestyle that supports recovery efforts.

The unit will be at Wirt County Family Care 9-noon Mondays. To schedule an appointment, call 304-485-1721 extension 875 or email amay@westbrookhealth.com.

Coplin Health Systems also will begin offering Vivitrol or Naltrexone.

Vivitrol is an available treatment option to individuals with substance use disorder or alcohol dependence. Naltrexone blocks the effects of opioids by competitive binding at opioid receptors.

To schedule with Dr. Darrin Nichols to discuss these treatment options, call 304 275-3301.

In 1978, Wirt County Health Services Association, doing business as Coplin Health Systems, was established as a non-profit organization. Coplin Health Systems has since expanded into nine facilities in Wirt County, Jackson County, Wood County and Meigs County including four school-based clinics and one dental office.
